Proficium Appoints Optical Networking Veteran Todd Swanson as Chief Executive Officer

Swanson brings 30+ years of leadership in product innovation, operational excellence, and market expansion within the optical networking and data center industries.

Union City, CA - Proficium LLC, the Bay Area-based optical networking and cable supplier to hyperscale and AI-based data centers, today formally announced Todd Swanson as its Chief Executive Officer. Swanson joined the company in August 2024 and has recently completed his first year in the role, marking a period of significant progress in product innovation, operational scaling and customer growth.

As CEO, Swanson is responsible for guiding Proficium’s strategic direction, operational execution, and market expansion, with a focus on delivering advanced connectivity solutions for partners and customers in HPC, AI, and machine learning environments.

Previously, Swanson was Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Silicon Photonics Product Division, where he oversaw technology and product development in the Optical Compute Interconnect space and drove growth in the data center, service provider and system OEM markets. He spent more than 18 years at Finisar Corporation, holding positions including Product Line Manager, Director of Marketing, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, EVP of Sales/Marketing/R&D, COO and Co-CEO. Swanson also held R&D, manufacturing, marketing and sales roles at Princeton Lightwave, Aegis Semiconductor and Hewlett Packard’s Optoelectronics Division.

Swanson holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
