Position overview
Proficium is seeking a hands-on, detail-driven Quality Engineering Manager to lead the development and implementation of a scalable, ISO-compliant Quality System. You will drive quality assurance and control across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain, ensuring that products and processes consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements. This role requires both strategic oversight and tactical execution in a rapidly growing environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on quality leader with both strategic vision and execution capability. They thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments where systems need to be built from the ground up. They are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working across functions—including Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Support.
This position reports to the VP of Operations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement core quality systems including IQC, OQC, RMA, document control, training, and non-conforming material handling
- Own and drive ISO 9001 certification efforts and internal audit programs
- Establish and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deploy and maintain document control systems
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for internal and external quality issues
- Support Engineering and Operations teams on product qualifications, eFAI, and process validations
- Define quality inspection criteria, sampling plans, and product release protocols
- Manage calibration systems and testing procedures to ensure traceability
- Qualify and audit suppliers according to Proficium standards
- Define incoming inspection criteria and vendor scorecards
- Partner with Supply Chain and Engineering to resolve supplier quality issues
- Provide training and ensure compliance to SOPs and WIs across departments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
- 8+ years of quality engineering or quality systems experience in manufacturing (fiber optics, cable assembly, or electronics a plus)
- Proven experience leading ISO 9001 implementation and certification
- Strong knowledge of quality tools: 8D, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, control plans
- Hands-on experience with non-conformance management, RMA, and eFAI
- Familiarity with QMS platforms and document control systems
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- Experience in fast-paced, small to mid-sized manufacturing environment
